For a lot of guests, "is there a step at the front door?" isn't a small question. It decides whether they can come at all. And for some, reading small text on a busy page or typing on a phone is the hard part. This update helps with both.
A section just for access
Every place's guide now has an Accessibility section. Tap what you have, one tap each:
- a step-free way in, a ground-floor room, a lift
- an accessible toilet or bathroom, a walk-in shower, grab rails
- wide doorways, accessible parking, a hearing loop, visual fire alarms
- assistance dogs welcome, and a quiet space
Then add anything else that helps, in your own words: the number of steps, how far the car park is, door widths, and just as importantly, what isn't accessible.
Guests see an Accessibility tile on your page, and Otis answers access questions from it, plainly and specifically.
My dad uses a wheelchair. Can he get in?
Yes, there's a step-free way in at the side door, and the downstairs bedroom has a walk-in shower with grab rails. The upstairs is only reachable by stairs.
He never assumes
If something isn't covered, Otis doesn't guess that it's fine. He says honestly that he doesn't know, and passes the question to you, so the guest gets a real answer before they travel. The basics work offline too: with no signal, the page still answers access questions from your saved guide.
Easier to read
Guests can tap Aa next to Help, at the top of your page, for:
- Text size: normal, large or larger, remembered on their phone.
- Plain background: no sky or scenery behind the chat, and stronger outlines. It's switched on automatically for anyone whose phone is set to ask for more contrast.
Listen, and ask out loud
- Listen: every reply from Otis has a 🔊 Listen button that reads it aloud in the phone's own voice.
- Ask out loud: on phones and browsers that support it, a 🎤 button next to the message box listens and types the question in, so guests can check it before sending.
And for you
Hosts get a Text size setting too, under You in the dashboard. It makes everything bigger on that device.
How to
- Open your space and go to Accessibility.
- Tap the features you have, and add notes about steps, distances and anything that isn't accessible.
- It saves as you go. Your Accessibility tile appears for guests, and Otis starts answering from it straight away.
