Notes for every room, and fun facts for chatty guests

Tell guests what's special about their own room or pitch, from the hot tub to the tricky shower. And give Otis a few fun facts for when a guest just wants a chat.

Not every room is the same. One has the hot tub, one has the shower that needs a firm twist, one gets the best Wi-Fi on the bed and none in the bathroom. Now you can tell guests about their own room, without telling everyone about every room.

Rooms, one by one

Hotels and B&Bs have a new Rooms section, and campsites have Pitches. Say how many you have and what number they start from, and they're listed for you. Rooms with names instead of numbers, like the Garden Suite, can be added one at a time. A bigger hotel can add a floor at a time, say 20 rooms starting from 201, and once you've more than a dozen, a search box helps you find one.

Each room has a box for anything special about it. Jot it down however you like. Leave the box empty for rooms with nothing to say.

What guests see

At the front of the tiles on your page there's a button for guests to add their room (or pitch) number. It stays put while the other tiles scroll past, and a little ? next to it explains why it's worth doing. Once they've added it, an About your room card appears with your notes for that room.

Your notes are turned into friendly sentences for guests, keeping every fact and adding nothing. So "wifi strongest on bed, weakest in bathroom" reaches them as a proper note, not a scribble.

Otis knows that room's notes too, and only that room's. He never tells a guest what's in someone else's room.

How do I get the hot tub going?

The cover unclips on the left, and it switches on at the panel by the door.

When a guest asks for something, the alert says which room or pitch they're in, at B&Bs and campsites as well as hotels.

How to

  1. Open your place and go to Rooms (or Pitches).
  2. Say how many you have and the first number, then tap List my rooms.
  3. Add notes to any room that needs them. It saves as you go.

One thing to keep out of room notes: door codes. Anyone who types a room number can see its notes, so codes belong in Private info, behind your stay code.

Fun facts

Most of what Otis knows is useful: Wi-Fi, checkout, where to park. But guests don't always want useful. Sometimes they're joking around, asking Otis about himself, or just bored. So every place now has a Fun facts section, for the things nobody needs to know and everybody remembers: the building's history, a famous visitor, the dog's name.

When someone's in a chatty mood, Otis matches it with one of your facts, a different one each time, then carries on helping. He won't push facts on a guest who has a problem.

Stuck for ideas? Tap Suggest some about my town and Otis offers a handful of facts about where you are. Tap Add on the ones you like, and give them a quick check, because you know your town best. If you haven't added any facts, Otis may share a well-known one about your town instead, but only when he's sure it's true.

Otis saysAsk me for a fun fact and I'll find you one. Ask me for three and I'll start telling you about bells.
